Craftin' for Christmas...
I have gotten "Halloweened" out, so it's on to Christmas. And with the weather here in Florida finally dipping down a bit, I can get into the winter holidays. That's also the reason for the New "Fallish" Background!!!
With finances being tight everywhere, I thought this year I will make as many gifts as I can for various friends and family. I hope they don't mind.
I first made this exploding box...I got the idea from Kathy at PaperPhenomenon. She made a Halloween one, but as I said earlier, I am "Halloweened" out! LOL!!! So I went for a gingerbread house. I am totally loving the SCAL program with my Cricut...that's how I made all the embellishments. I still have a lot of learning, but so far, so good.
I also made a Recipe Box for someone at work. I hope they like it. It was a lot of fun to do, and I got the idea from Laura at FollowingThePaperTrail. She is another artist that inspires me...please visit her when you have a chance and let her inspire you as well! I did change some things, but most of it is the same as hers.
Well, that's all for this weekend. Can't wait for the week to go by so I can create a bit more. Still have Christmas cards to make! I always say I will make them early, but it never happens!
Take care everyone and thank you for stopping by! Remember, I LOVE comments, so please leave one and tell me what you think of what I am doing! Thank you!

Holy Crapola!!!
LMAO! There are a couple of reasons for the title of this blog entry. First is, wow, it has taken me a while to post again, but the reason for that is...First my external hard drive went wonky on me. Which is where I had EVERYTHING! Every picture, every piece of music (over 17,000 songs), every program, every website I take care of (my second job)...in other words...EVERYTHING! After bringing it to two different places (the first place we won't mention because they took their sweet-ass time with it and then only to discover everything was gone at the second place after having a major fight at the first place...yes, long story) EVERYTHING was GONE! So I had to start from scratch and try and get everything I could back. I purchased a new external hard drive and started on my journey of grabbing and downloading everything I could. BUT...all the photos that I had, I can never get back. UGH! Family photos, concert photos and such that I hadn't had time to print out...GONE. That hurt the most.
The music I was able to backload from my Ipod...so that was all saved.
The programs and websites I was able to get and backload from the net...so that was all saved.
SOME of the photos I had on Facebook so I have started to grab what I could, but that is still going to take awhile.
Anyway...here's the next reason for the absence.
My computer broke! And it was all my fault! I banged into the desk where I keep it, it fell and flipped and busted the monitor! So to fix the monitor on my precious laptop would have cost almost the same amount of money as a new one, so I went with a new one and had to start moving stuff off the old to the new.
Did I say UGH yet?????
In between all this, I have been a little sick, hubby has been sick and work has been crazy (but that's usual).
So I finally have gotten things calmed down a bit and have even been able to go to a couple of concerts and craft!!!
I was able to go to the Tears for Fears concert in Downtown Orlando and it was a blast!!!
It was on August 28th and the concert was FREE!!!!!
Here are some pics that I was able to get!

Another weekend goes by...
But today I did get up a bit early and started crafting right away. I started a Mini-Album for my bestest friend Dawn. She gave me the idea when she was over last weekend and said that we need to take more pictures together, that we don't have many of us. Even though we both HATE getting our picture taken, we decided that we will try to take more of us together. I did go through all of the pictures I have and we don't have many, but we do have some. Most of them are from our various concert adventures. Wild how we have known each other now for over 30 years and we only have a handful of pictures. We definitely need to change that. But anyway...I decided to do a mini-album for her of what pictures of us I do have.
There is one problem...I am stuck. I mean I decided on the pages, and even covered them with paper, which was a task in itself. I had to do each page and sandpaper the edges, then do the other side and sandpaper the edges again since the sizes were so wacky. But that is done and some of the pages are done, I am at a stand still though. I don't really have a lot of embellishments and would love any suggestions you may have.
So, I would love any help you can give, it would be most appreciated.
Here's to another work week and getting to the weekend fast!!!
Take care!

One more for the road...
I had all these plans for today, my last day of vacation, but no...I wake up with a bad tummy and wound up staying in bed most of the morning. I did get some energy up by late afternoon and made some, or tried to make some ribbon roses. I think it came out ok, but I have to practice a bunch more.
Here's my attempt...(picture didn't come out so great)

Flowers really do intoxicate me...
Today was my 'Flower Day'. I have watched so many YouTube videos and searched so many blogs throughout the months and saw so many flower techniques I decided to try my hand at it.
So here is my version of 'mammatiffy' on YouTube's Destiny Flower:

Money For Nothing...
Well lately it seems that I have to just dedicate my blog to Laura at The Paper Trail!!! She is an awesome creator and artist. I decided to do her Purse Mini-Album and I think it came out great! I am sending it to someone and I hope they enjoy it.
Here's the link to my YouTube video showing it.
I also did a tutorial on a paper bag background paper. Sounds kind of redundant, doesn't it?
But it's a quick way to make a metallic paper that you can use to wrap chipboard. Hope you like it.
And I even speak in this YouTube Video!!! I know, calm down...LOL!!!
I have been having a lot of fun making mini-albums. It's a whole new world to this rubber-stamper/scrapbooker and I am loving it! I wish I could quit my day job and be able to craft all day, everyday!
Thank you so much for stopping by and take care!

Get Your Kicks...On Route 66!
This past weekend, I was able to get a mini-album that I had been wanting to do...done. It's based on two mini-albums that I had the pleasure of learning from by Laura at The Paper Trail. I melded her Purse Mini-Album (Laptop Bag) and her 3-ring Mini-Album into a Suitcase Mini-Album for my niece Tina which has gone to so many places around the world. I hope she likes it and uses it well.

Creating Challenges
One of my doggies, Sweet Pea, woke me up Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m., so off to the studio I went. I have entered two swaps on Y.P.P. (Your Paper Pantry) and was able to finish 90% of my Travelogue. Next weekend I will try to start on my other, which are ATC's. Can't wait!
I also decided to join in on the fun at Trina's Life is Scraptastic Blog Challenge for June! It's her second one and since I have joined since the beginning (her first one...LOL!) I decided to try my hand at her new challenge.
The challenge was to may a 12 x 12 Layout with the colors: Pink, Green and Black.
I actually didn't know if I could do it, but I found my niece's pictures from her Communion and her sister was wearing a pink and green dress...WHAT LUCK! LOL!!!
It was a lot of fun to do, and can't wait for the next challenge!

Now it's back to work time tomorrow and creating will be on hold until the weekend.
Take care everyone!

Baby Boy Lunch Bag Mini Album
My Alcohol Ink Tile
One girl that I have been following - LifeIsScrapTastic - has challenged everyone to an Alcohol Altered Tile. I used her technique to do the tile, along with another technique that she showed me which was the Tim Holtz technique of splattering alcohol inks. So that's how I did the background of the tile and then stamped with Staz-on two different stamped images...then topped it all off with Modge Podge. It was a lot of fun...and I want to thank Trina for making me move myself to do this.
I am also including some tiles I did a while back with Brilliance inks...more muted colors than the alcohol inks. Next weekend I think I will try doing some more.
Here's my alcohol ink tile - DREAM

Last Dance - This one I did a while back

My 9-11-01 tribute to my hometown

Another New York Tile

Artsy Women

Well, here they are...I have also been able to do a baby album that I did for a fellow co-worker. I made my first video of it, and may even post it on YouTube...but not so sure. I am such a dweeb at times...I know. Anyway, thanks for the technique and the challenge.

Crazy Couple of Weeks...
Work has been nuts, and is not stopping any time soon. I even get to go to Chicago in a couple of weeks for intense training. I am actually very excited to go, even though I know it is going to be cold. I can't wait to get a chill in me again...being originally from New York and lived there for about 28 years, I actually miss freezing every once in a while. Not that I want it all the time anymore...that's one of the reasons I moved to Florida, but the week of cold and hopefully some snow is something that I am looking forward to. I've also never been off the East Coast in my life, so I am a bit excited to go to a whole new state and will be taking my camera. I know I won't be able to go sight-seeing and stuff, but I will take as many pics as I can to remember my time there.
Let's see, work has been crazy, as I've said, but it's a good crazy...I mean, I am working non-stop, which means the days are flying by. But I also feel that I am not getting what I need to do, done. I hate that. I know I will have everything I need done when I need to, but I wish I could have all my ducks in a row and have everything flowing right. That never happens, so I don't know why I just don't get used to the fact! LOL!!! And the end of the month is almost here...which means more fun times!
But I do have to admit, Jeff has been an absolute angel to me, each weekend I have been waking up early and crafting, relaxing, watching mindless tv...and he has been so supportive. I Thank God everyday for having such a loving husband to share my life with. Yes, we do have our little fights...heck, we've been together for almost 25 years! I am definitely not perfect at all, damn close, but not perfect!!! But I couldn't ask for anyone better to spend my life with. We get along so well, and know each other so well. The best thing is...we are absolute Best Friends, and I think that is so important in any relationship. We can tell each other anything, even if we think the other will get mad because of it. I think all relationships should be like that.
Even friendships. I hope that my friends can feel that if they have a bad feeling, or a problem with me, that they can talk to me, scream at me...whatever they need to do, and feel that they can do it.

R.I.P. Mom...January 7, 2009
From as early as I can remember, we didn't have a very loving relationship. I guess that's where I get being a very stand-offish kind of person when it comes to showing affection to others. Which I wish would change, but now that I am almost 42 years of age, I doubt that it will. I am very uncomfortable in any kind of situation where any form of hugging another person may be inevitable. It's actually kind of sad when another wants to just hug for a holiday or put their arm around me to show any kind of closeness...I shudder when the opportunity arises. But that is me and I have lived with it for so long, it will not change...unfortunately. But I do try to express how I feel about people close to me in other ways and I hope that they know that I am trying to show them that I care about them in my way.
I remember a bunch of little memories of my mom. Some good, some bad. One memory I have when I was very little, before my brother (we are 7 years apart) came along, is my mom in the living room of my grandma and grandpa’s apartment on Ocean Avenue and Glenwood Road, and me telling my mother that I know that she doesn’t love me while running into the kitchen. My mom came in after me and told me that she did, and wiped my tears away. She let me know what a good girl I was and that she was sorry that she was not home all the time. What felt like within minutes, the doorbell rang, he friends walked in, and she got her coat on and left, leaving me behind with my grandparents. I know that I can’t fault her for it, she was young when she had me…21, so she needed to have a social life, but I can only account for the way I felt, and at age 7, you really don’t understand other people’s feelings.
When I look back on a lot of it, I know that she was probably trying to do her best with what she had. She was a single mom all of my life. She never got married, never had a permanent love in her life, but she would also tell me that she wanted it that way. So I am not sure if she ever searched for it, or just shunned it away. My father, my brothers father and most men that I knew as 'uncles' in my life, were married to other women. I know my mother knew that before she decided to spend time with them, so I assume that she wanted to be with a man that already had a life outside of my mother's life. She would tell me that she liked being on her own. She liked that her 'boyfriends' would only come over when they could, which was not often, and then leave her to herself to do whatever she wanted. She didn't have to answer to anyone, but she also had no one to talk to.
From as early as I can remember, she has had one addiction or another which in turn made her very moody. Either she was on cloud nine, as happy as anyone can be which made her a joy to be around, or she would be the meanest, nastiest person that you couldn't wait to get away from.
I can't say that I had the worst childhood, because where we lived in Canarsie, Brooklyn, I had a lot of close friends that I am still in touch with now that I would hang out with from the time I got home from school until I had to go to bed. I also had and still do have a love of music that would take me away from everything that was going on around me. She did always keep a roof over my head, even if we moved more than I would have liked to, we always had food on the table, dishes that I ask Jeff to make me now just to remind me of those days, and I have a sense of independency from various things she would teach me, like how to change a flat tire, check the fluids in my car, change a washer in a faucet, and other things that I can thank her for showing me.
I guess I can bitch and moan if I want for all the things that were bad, I can pitch a fit for various times that she was not there for me or did things that a mom shouldn’t do, but there is nothing I can do about it now except to learn and grow from it. Although I do hate the saying, it seems a bit appropriate…what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Either you can take what is dealt you in life and rise above, or you can give in to it and become what you are trying to avoid.
I do have to say that now that I am older and have grown to understand how life kind of works, because I don’t think you can ever have that down…I am grateful that my mom did try her best although I may not have agreed with most of the things she had done in her life, it is because of all things that I am who I am now. So there has to be some kind of thankfulness on my part, right? No one is perfect, and unless you can walk on water, there are things that you have done in your life that you either regret or wish you had done differently…I will just hold on to the fact that even though my mom may have never apologized for certain things that she had put me through, I am sure she never wanted them to happen and did regret or want to do to them over. I may never know the real answer until I see her again beyond this life, but for now that is how I will always think, it makes me feel better that way and that’s all I can do.
Even though we weren't close, even though we may have never seen eye to eye...You were still and always will be my mom. One year ago you hopefully found all the love, peace and happiness that I know you were always searching for.
Rest in Peace Forever Mom.

Christmas 2009
With the way the economy is, and the tough times that a lot of people are having, this year for Christmas, Jeff and I decided that we would help out a family that is so deserving and in need. We look around ourselves and see that we have basically everything we need and want and hate to know that there are people out there that are struggling for basic needs each and every day.
Jeff is a school bus driver now and this job for him is not a job as for most...it's a part of his life where he gets to ship precious cargo (kiddies) to and from school. He has three routes a day, elementary, middle and high school kids. Throughout the school year, there are days when the kids get rowdy, there are days when the kids are crazy...but there are also days when he puts on the radio in the bus and all the kids are singing and laughing and having a great time. There are also days that one or more of the kids will give him a drawing of a school bus with 'Mr. Jeff' driving with crayon-filled hearts surrounding the piece of artwork. When he brings those creations home, he places them up on the refrigerator like a proud daddy, showing off the artwork that one of 'his kids' did. He loves all the kids he gets to share each day with.
As we were deciding which family we wanted to help for Christmas, Jeff went through all of the kids that he has been riding with each and every day so far this school year. He knows of one family that he has the pleasure of having their twin 5-year old daughters on his bus that has been hit hard with this recession. The dad has lost his job and has now resorted to collecting scrap metal so he can bring it to the metal yard for recycling and make some extra money for the holidays. As we were trying to figure out how we would go about doing this for this family, we took into account the dad's feelings...we knew that any man's pride might get int he way and refuse the help we wanted to give. But as the dad came over to Jeff as he was dropping off his daughters and asked if he had any scrap metal so he may be able to make one more trip to the yard before the holidays, Jeff knew we had our 'in' to help them out. We did have some metal for him, so we would go to their house to drop that as well as everything else off for their family.
So Thursday night Jeff clipped coupons and went to the store. He packed up his car with so much food, I couldn't believe it. Ham, Turkey, milk, eggs, bread, butter, cereals, pasta...just so much to mention. I'd say about 15-20 bags of food. Friday I went to Wal-Mart and got a gift certificate so that they could get the kids some gifts for Christmas. Friday night when Jeff got home from work, he picked me up and we were on our way. As we were getting closer to their house, Jeff and I both said that we were nervous about the whole thing. We were so happy about what we were doing, but didn't want the family to take anything the wrong way or to refuse our help. So we decided we were going to get in and get out as fast as we could.
As we got to their property, I noticed the conditon as to how they were living. They had a nice trailer, and a lot of property. But as we got close, I could see that there was a flat trailer that the dad must have been working on getting metal out of various appliances and stuff that he had loaded on there. They had a beautiful dog that greeted us named Bam-Bam. Part Mastiff, part red-nosed pit bull. If you know me, you know how much I love animals...he was adorable. The mom and the twins were out there as well. The girls were beautiful...and their eyes lit up when they saw 'Mr. Jeff'. We got out of the car and opened the hatch...we brought the metal to him, and then Jeff told them that we had to leave quick because we had to get to a friends house, but we had some extra stuff to give them. Jeff told the twins that an elf came to the house with all the goodies and told him to give them to the sweetest twin girls he knew. So he knew it was for them. They smiled so brightly thinking that Santa and his elves had something to do with this. Jeff and I unloaded as fast as we could and all the dad could do was help as you could see he was in total shock and had no idea what to do. As we got ready to leave, the dad and mom came to us and gave us hugs and thanked us over and over again. We told them that it was all okay and we'd see them soon.
Jeff and I got back in the car and left quickly. We were both quiet for a minute or so...I think we were both in awe as to what had just taken place. I felt tears well up in my eyes and I know Jeff was feeling the same way. Finally Jeff said, 'It was all worth getting a hug and kiss from the twins.' He's not allowed to have any contact with the kids at all during school hours. Which is totally understandable. But for the twins girls to wrap their arms around him and give him a hug and kiss and say thank you made his heart sing.
So, I now know what Christmas is supposed to mean...giving. I must admit that I always wanted to do for others and we have given to the Red Cross and various animal shelters and such, but to be able to impact a family directly was unbelievable and a memory that I will never forget my whole life. We decided that this will be what we do each year...give to a family that is in need. Not only are you giving to the family, but you are feeding your own heart into knowing how much of a difference you can make just by being compassionate.

Decisions, Decisions...
Well, this weekend was the weekend to think of having a baby.
Yes, even though I have always thought that I would not have one, Jeff and I discuss it every once in a while and come up with the same conclusion. But we still speak about it anyway.
We have been together for 21 years now. We have had our ups and downs. There were many years that were as tough as hell...but we made it through. There are also many years, including the present, that I couldn't ask for anything better.
When we first got together, back in 1985, we were only 16-17 yrs. old, and way too young and nieve to even think about kids. We couldn't decide what we going to do on the weekends, let alone a big decision of having a family. We broke up for a year and got back together again. Never skipping a beat. Still being young, the family thought never crossed our mind. After a couple more years together, we got engaged. Knowing that we wanted to be together forever. Unfortunately, we had other things going on in our lives that made things impossible to do everything we wanted to. We had other committments, other priorities...but we made it through, and in 1995 we had a wedding that made me feel like a princess for a day. We did it all on our own, and enjoyed every minute of it.
Now came the decision of whether we would stay in NYC or move to Florida. We decided to move to Florida, with almost no money to our names, and no jobs to start. Times got hard again, money was not there, we couldn't even think about having a family. We discussed it, being newly married, that was 'supposed' to be one of the topics of conversation. But we also knew that if we were getting eviction notices, and bouncing grocery store checks, there was no way that we would even think of bringing a child in to this world.
We got good jobs, we got a nicer apartment, things were looking up. Then we finally scraped up enough to get our first home. The topic came up again...should we start a family now? We came to the same conclusion...no. We just started 'living' and we knew that a baby would totally change everything. We wanted to have 'our time' now that we could start living it. So the subject went away again...
Now that we have been living in our home for 5 years, have established roots and have a pretty secure financial backing...we started thinking about it once more. The pros and cons, the good and the bad. I actually wanted to do it...surprise, surprise. The one who never had that biological clock ticking, or feel motherhood knocking on my door was seriously thinking that I could do it. I could raise a child for us. I could change my whole life and give him the one thing that I know he's wanted for so long. We sat and spoke, and spoke and spoke. We surprised each other by being on the other side of the fence from each other. The one who always wanted a child, decided that it was too risky and showed me all the ways that it wouldn't be something that would be in our future. And the one who never wanted to have a child, decided that we could. But after speaking for a long time about it...crying, and hurting over it...we both decided that we would not have a child. And we also knew that this would be the last time that we would be speaking on this subject. We let this idea go...never to come back again.
And the one thing we both promised to each other........no regrets, no looking back.

Hurricanes...
Well, this hurricane season is already starting to be different than any other that we have been through yet. August 12th, Hurricane Charley starting making his way towards us. We were all getting prepared for the worst, since he was supposed to hit on Tampa Bay and go across the state. After work was over, everyone went their separate ways to try and make their love ones and possessions as safe as possible. When I got home we started our hurricane prepardness by bringing everything we could find outside, in. Then the neighbors next door, Jim and Holly, were kind enough to lend us there fencing to board up our windows. We also helped them put up the fencing up onto their windows as well. Neighbors from across the street, came across to help us out. We bought water, food, batteries and anything else that we thought we might need. Will it be enough, we hoped so. While doing our storm watching, Charley decided to turn at the last minute and instead of hitting the Tampa Bay side where everyone was prepared that it was going to hit, he decided to hit at Ponte Gorda (south of Tampa) and cut across towards Orlando, Kissimmee and St. Cloud. The problem there is that no one thought it would hit there and not many people were prepared for him to visit their end of town. Homes were devastated, trees were torn out from the ground, roots and all, it was something that hadn't been seen in the areas that it went through in a long time. We were the 'lucky' ones. We received the tornadoes, heavy rain and not much else. A fellow co-worker in St. Cloud had trees come down at his house, power outage for a while, but thankfully all is okay.
A fellow co-worker of my husbands had lost power for over 10 days and lost part of her roof of her house...but on the bright side she found two baby squirrels to take care of. Unfortunately one past away, but the other is still doing great. She brings it to work and feeds him with an eye dropper and is helping him along since his parents are no where to be found.
At my office, we had minimal damage...but our fabrication shop in Lake Wales is a totally different story. The roof caved in and blew away and all of the equipment was exposed to the weather. Our guys had to pull everything we could from there and bring it up to our Disney office to keep it from getting stolen.Even though there were SO MANY bad stories and things happening to so many people...there were so many things that I found to be so sweet during this catastrophe. People seemed to have been even nicer than usual to each other. Neighbors came out and helped everyone who needed it like they were part of their family. One woman we knew lost all of her supplies to craft with along with most of her apartment, and our crafting group decided to send anything and everything her way to help her out.
After Charley, my husband and I decided that we were so lucky to have not been hit directly with the hurricane but wondered what would happen when the next one came along. So we ordered a generator, a window air conditioner, more flashlights, batteries, all the plywood for each window all labeled and bolts in the house for the wood...and wat do you know, another hurricane is on its way.Hurricane Frances is hitting now as I speak, it has reached the coast and is going so slow that it will last all weekend. This hurricane we are ready for. We have prepared as much as we can and that's all that we can do. Frances is bigger than the whole state of Florida, so everyone is going to feel this one wherever they are. Again, the neighbors and friends and family have been so supportive to each other. Helping out whenever and wherever they can. In my mind, I wish that everyone would be this close all the time, but am so grateful that we come together when we need to. I am sure that I will be adding on to this entry...but for right now I will leave it as it is. I just pray that everyone is safe and okay when this is all over. My thoughts are with everyone. Take care!

An Old and New Love...
First and foremost, BASEBALL SEASON HAS BEGUN! Do I sound a little excited? I happen to be one of those girls that just love hanging out, playing on the computer or creating artwork and having a baseball game playing in the background. The little stories that the announcers have to tell, the crack of the bats, the screaming fans...all sweet music to my ears. I can say that this love of the sport comes from my dear, dear grandmother Esther. She was an original Brooklyn Dodger fan till they moved and broke her heart. The stories she would tell me of how much it cost to go to a game and how much fun she would have seemed to seep into my heart and turned me into a baseball fan at a young age. When I started my love affair with baseball, 'Nanny' (as I called her) was a huge New York Mets fan. Since we lived in Brooklyn back then, Nanny decided that the N.Y. Mets would be her team since they were close to home. The N.Y. Yankees were in the Bronx and she thought that that was way too far away to give her allegiance to. So the Mets it was. I remember her listening to them on the radio when they were not playing on TV and would love to listen to every move they made while playing solitaire in the kitchen. Those were the days. Nanny and I were so happy when the Amazin' Mets won the World Series back in the 80's and she knew they could do it all along. She was their biggest fan. Even when they were the worst team, she was still there behind them all along.Well, I now have to admit that my allegiance has changed from the NY Mets to the NY Yankees many years ago and there has been no looking back. I don't think Nanny would disapprove since she would just be happy that I still love the sport of baseball as she did. I will watch any and every game on, whether the NY Yankees are playing or not. My husband thinks that it is great that his wife knows so much about baseball and will ask me stats before checking on the ESPN website which honestly, makes me pretty proud. I know that this love affair with the sport will not bring me wealth or help me in case of emergency, but a part of me thinks that it will always keep me with my grandmother and that is something that I never want to lose or live without.
The next major event that has been going on in my world is the complete re-vamping of my home. You can tell that spring is in the air here in our house in Florida, which is really weird because isn't it always spring here??? I mean weather-wise? LOL!!! Jeff (my other half) and I have moved into our own first house back in 2001. 10 days after 9/11. And at the time I felt regretful for being happy while the world was falling apart around us. I now am more ecstatic than you will ever know for having our own little piece of the earth that we call home. It has made me whole and complete to know that this is mine and no one can take it away from us. The strong feelings around this is because throughout my childhood, our family moved around A LOT! And that is actually an understatement. Then when Jeff and I got married, we moved from NY to FL into an apartment. Two years later we moved to a better place, but it was still another apartment. Finally, we planted roots here and I never want to leave. We were lucky enough to have bought a brand new house that we got to see built from the ground up and would visit every weekend to see the new additions made each time.

Well, now that we have lived here for almost three years, we have decided to rip up all of the carpet (that the dogs helped with - that's another story) and tile the floors. We did have someone help us in the beginning to do our kitchen, living room, main bathroom and foyers. To say the least it was a learning experience. I do have to say that it looks absolutely wonderful! We went from medium gray carpet to a white with light gray tile and boy has it brightened the house up. It also looks bigger. While doing these rooms floor over, we also figured we might as well paint too. Hey, why not? LOL!! After this was all done, we found that we had so much tile left over that we can tile some more...this brought on the new job of tiling the backyard porch. We decided to do this part of the home improvements all on our own. We finished this episode last weekend and all I can say is WOW!!! I am not one to pat myself on the back, but we deserve it on this! Now you can call us gluttons for punishment, but we still had so much more tile left that now we have decided to do my Craft/Office. I have just finished painting the walls, and if you know me at all you'd know that the color blue is what I wound up with. The tiling will begin on Sunday since we have a birthday party tomorrow and doubt if any time will be allotted for anything else but cleaning and partying. But I do know that we are so ahead of schedule right now that I think we may have it all done before Memorial Day weekend. Which means that Jeff and I can actually relax and enjoy the fruits of our labor for the nice, long weekend ahead of us. I do have to admit that even though I was rather hesitant to start this whole project of tiling and painting from the beginning...I am very, very happy that we have done it. Not only does the floor look great and make the house look larger, the coolness under your feet is great to have when the Floridian weather gets up in temperature. I also know by the way that the dogs seem to sleep on the floors more, that they are enjoying the new flooring as well. The other good thing is that we have been spring cleaning all along the renovation. So it has just been great all around.
