Exploding Rose

I had so much fun making that first exploding box,
I decided to make another.

This time I used a different paper pad,
Terrace Blooms from Hobby Lobby.

This is a side view.
I added some trims and crocheted flowers along with some pearls and mesh butterflies on the top of the box.

Here's a top view.
You can see the pearls and butterflies better.

This paper is beautiful.

Now the view from the inside.
Again, I did three layers.

But I did add a box to the middle.
You can add a present in there for someone.

I did make the panels a bit more simplistic than the first one.

But there is still a lot of space for photos.

Now that I have done two of these boxes,
I think I am done.
I am thinking of putting these in my Etsy shop though.
I have started that back up for the New Year,
so I do have to start stocking it up with some items.

I hope you enjoyed these creations...
and as always with all of the pictures on my blog...
you can always click on the pictures for bigger, detailed pictures.

Also...I would love to know if there is anything you would like to see on my blog.  Let me know if there is a specific item you would like to see used, or a theme...or any suggestions you may have about what you have seen.
I would love any feedback you may have whatsoever, just comment below.
I'd LOVE to hear from you!!!

The 70's Explode

This week I was in the mood to make something
different than cards.
So after searching YouTube for a bit,
and I decided on an exploding box.
I found an awesome tutorial from RosaKellyScrapbooking
I love her tutorials and this one is no exception.

I used a paper pad from Michael's either
last year or the year before...Candy Retro.

Here's the top of the box.

The sides...

Here it is open.  There are three layers.

This is one of the panels with a waterfall album.

This panel is opened with a ribbon...

Then there are two doors that open...

Which reveals a turning pop up card.

This panel is closed with magnets...

But once opened, there is a lot of space to add pictures.

There are many different panels to this box.
I didn't show you all of them,
but there are many spots to add pictures and other ephemera.
This was a lot of fun to make.
Once you have down the measurements,
it goes along pretty quickly.

I hope you enjoyed these creations...

Papa Bear

I wanted to take the time this weekend
to speak of a man that has left us here on earth,
but I know he is watching us from above.
'Papa Bear'

I never had a dad growing up,
and this man, my Father-in-Law,
treated me as his own.
He even walked me down the aisle
as you can see above.
Before we started our walk,
he knew how nervous I was by my shaking.
He put his hand on mine and
told me that everything was going to be alright.
He was always able to put me at ease and
was always so super sweet to me.
We would always joke around together as well.
One of our little jokes was that him and
my Mother-in-Law paid me to marry their son...
Whenever we all got together,
he would remind my husband of that
and we would giggle.
Although we were not blood-related,
the 33 years of knowing him will be time I will always cherish
and time that he made me feel as if I had a Dad.
He treated me with respect, sweetness and love
and I will have a hole in my heart now that he is gone.
Take care My Papa Bear,
I can't wait to see you and give you a hug again.

Out of this World

I am back to share some more cards I have been making.
I have to admit, I have had a lot of ideas lately,
so it has made it more enjoyable to be in my studio.
I get discouraged when I do not have the 'creative mojo' flowing, so when it is...I try and run with it.

I did a bit of a galaxy background with some makeup brushes  I purchased off of Amazon that act just like the 'craft ones' that are way more expensive.

I have to admit, those brushes are way easier to use than the blending tool.

These little guys are adorable,
I didn't use my white gel pen on this one for highlights...

But on this one I did...I think I like the highlights,
how about you?

This card and the next, took me out of my norm.
I think I am more on the 'cutesie' side,
and these were more mixed media to me.

Even though they are different than my usual,
I do love the way they came out.

This guy was a bunch of fun to do.
Unfortunately, we always need get well cards
to try and put a smile on someone that is not feeling well.

I hope to keep this up.
The holidays were a bunch of fun,
and I had a lot of time off...
Now that I am back to normalcy,
I hope I can keep up with the creating!

Catching Up

More than a year has gone by since I have posted,
but I have not forgotten about my blog.
I have just been posting all of my creations
on social media instead.
So I have been around, just not here.
I am going to try this again...
yes, I have said this before,
but what the heck...
maybe this year will be different.
All I can do is try, so here it goes.

2018 was a weird year for me.
There were many good times, but some low times as well.
I am looking forward to a great year in 2019!
I hope it is great for everyone!

December is my vacation month.
Meaning, every December for years,
I take the Monday and Fridays off at work,
to have nice, long weekends throughout the month.
This year I was surprised to actually get
Handmade Christmas Cards done and mailed,
and was also able to make a bunch of
Birthday Cards for the New Year.

Here are some of the cards I was able to make.

Come on, how can you not like this Freddie Mercury image?

I made this one a bit simple in case it is needed for any occasion later on.  She was fun to color.

The splatter background on this was made
with my old smooch sprays.
I totally forgot about them and was
pleasantly surprised when I found them again!

I just love this adorable elephant.
He always looks so happy.

So many candles, so little time!
Had to do them in a rainbow.

So here is to the New Year and
wishing you nothing but the best.
I hope that the New Year brings
health, joy and happiness and
all of your dreams come true.

I hope you enjoyed these creations...
