Age of Aquarius

This week I wanted to share some cards that
I have made for some birthdays this month.
I hope that the recipients liked them.
One of my FAVORITE things to create are Birthday cards.
I just want the birthday person to get a smile from their mail,
instead of mail and junk ads.
I hope it works!

This first one is an Aquarius card...
all purple for the person I am sending it to...
her FAVORITE color.

This one is musically themed.
The person getting this one
I have been friends with since
cassette tapes came out!

This one is for a guy.
It is always hard for me to do masculine cards,
so I hope this one is received well.

This card was a lot of fun to put together.
I have the dies to cut each piece of this stamp set
and it was fun to put brads on the wheels.

Thanks so much for indulging in my creations for the week.
Have a great day!

Show some love

This week I want to show the rest of my Valentine's Love.
Each year at work I do try to do something for my co-workers.
Hubby was able to get these bags of Kisses for almost nothing with coupons...he is the Coupon King!!!
I was able to dress them up a bit with some items I purchased at Target and Hobby Lobby and in my stash.

Then I was also able to dress up some lollipops
with paper and ribbon.
I also used some foam stickers I had from last year.

The back sticker is from Target this year.
I totally love when I pick up stuff that I think is adorable,
and then actually use it!!!
See, there is a reason us crafters pick up items that look good,
we know we will use them...sooner or later!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!

Weepuls

My teen years were in the 80's,
yes, I am dating myself...
But anyway, when I went to Hobby Lobby to see what they had for Valentine's Day crafting, I right away thought of Weepuls.
I am not sure how many of you will remember these little guys

For some reason, I remember them everywhere back then.

So when I saw these huge pom poms,
I thought of those little guys.
Of course, there were other items I picked up as well.

Here is my version of the Weepul.
Not sure why they were named that either,
not a very attractive name for them,
but I do not remember them for their name.
I just remember that they were cute with the googly eyes.

So using the pom poms, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, some card stock hearts for the feet and bows for the antennas...
This is what I came up with.

After the first one, of course I had to make a gang of them.
I am giving them to my co-workers this year for Valentine's day.
But had to share with you to see
how many of you remember them.

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!

Backpack Album

Every once in a while when I get caught up on cards for the month, I try to find something different to make...so I search YouTube to see what everyone is up to.
Well, I found a video on YouTube from Mixed Up Craft that shows her making a Backpack Gift Bag.
I thought this was just brilliant and had to try my hand at it.
Her directions are pretty easy to follow.
Of course though, I did have to do my own thing to it as well,
I made an album to fit inside the backpack.

I just purchased this paper set called Love Story from Tuesday Morning and since it is the Valentine season,
I figured I should use this for my new project.

This is the front of the backpack.
There is also a pocket on the front that you can add things to.

Here's a side view.
There are also pockets on each side.

Here is the back with the straps.

The album I made fits right inside the backpack.

I made the album with four pages to add photos to.

I loved making this backpack and may have to make another.
It was rather fun and easy to make and the result you get is awesome.

Exploding Rose

I had so much fun making that first exploding box,
I decided to make another.

This time I used a different paper pad,
Terrace Blooms from Hobby Lobby.

This is a side view.
I added some trims and crocheted flowers along with some pearls and mesh butterflies on the top of the box.

Here's a top view.
You can see the pearls and butterflies better.

This paper is beautiful.

Now the view from the inside.
Again, I did three layers.

But I did add a box to the middle.
You can add a present in there for someone.

I did make the panels a bit more simplistic than the first one.

But there is still a lot of space for photos.

Now that I have done two of these boxes,
I think I am done.
I am thinking of putting these in my Etsy shop though.
I have started that back up for the New Year,
so I do have to start stocking it up with some items.

The 70's Explode

This week I was in the mood to make something
different than cards.
So after searching YouTube for a bit,
and I decided on an exploding box.
I found an awesome tutorial from RosaKellyScrapbooking
I love her tutorials and this one is no exception.

I used a paper pad from Michael's either
last year or the year before...Candy Retro.

Here's the top of the box.

The sides...

Here it is open.  There are three layers.

This is one of the panels with a waterfall album.

This panel is opened with a ribbon...

Then there are two doors that open...

Which reveals a turning pop up card.

This panel is closed with magnets...

But once opened, there is a lot of space to add pictures.

There are many different panels to this box.
I didn't show you all of them,
but there are many spots to add pictures and other ephemera.
This was a lot of fun to make.
Once you have down the measurements,
it goes along pretty quickly.

I hope you enjoyed these creations...
and as always with all of the pictures on my blog...

Papa Bear

I wanted to take the time this weekend
to speak of a man that has left us here on earth,
but I know he is watching us from above.
'Papa Bear'

I never had a dad growing up,
and this man, my Father-in-Law,
treated me as his own.
He even walked me down the aisle
as you can see above.
Before we started our walk,
he knew how nervous I was by my shaking.
He put his hand on mine and
told me that everything was going to be alright.
He was always able to put me at ease and
was always so super sweet to me.
We would always joke around together as well.
One of our little jokes was that him and
my Mother-in-Law paid me to marry their son...
Whenever we all got together,
he would remind my husband of that
and we would giggle.
Although we were not blood-related,
the 33 years of knowing him will be time I will always cherish
and time that he made me feel as if I had a Dad.
He treated me with respect, sweetness and love
and I will have a hole in my heart now that he is gone.
Take care My Papa Bear,
I can't wait to see you and give you a hug again.

Out of this World

I am back to share some more cards I have been making.
I have to admit, I have had a lot of ideas lately,
so it has made it more enjoyable to be in my studio.
I get discouraged when I do not have the 'creative mojo' flowing, so when it is...I try and run with it.

I did a bit of a galaxy background with some makeup brushes  I purchased off of Amazon that act just like the 'craft ones' that are way more expensive.

I have to admit, those brushes are way easier to use than the blending tool.

These little guys are adorable,
I didn't use my white gel pen on this one for highlights...

But on this one I did...I think I like the highlights,
how about you?

This card and the next, took me out of my norm.
I think I am more on the 'cutesie' side,
and these were more mixed media to me.

Even though they are different than my usual,
I do love the way they came out.

This guy was a bunch of fun to do.
Unfortunately, we always need get well cards
to try and put a smile on someone that is not feeling well.

I hope to keep this up.
The holidays were a bunch of fun,
and I had a lot of time off...
Now that I am back to normalcy,
I hope I can keep up with the creating!

Catching Up

More than a year has gone by since I have posted,
but I have not forgotten about my blog.
I have just been posting all of my creations
on social media instead.
So I have been around, just not here.
I am going to try this again...
yes, I have said this before,
but what the heck...
maybe this year will be different.
All I can do is try, so here it goes.

2018 was a weird year for me.
There were many good times, but some low times as well.
I am looking forward to a great year in 2019!
I hope it is great for everyone!

December is my vacation month.
Meaning, every December for years,
I take the Monday and Fridays off at work,
to have nice, long weekends throughout the month.
This year I was surprised to actually get
Handmade Christmas Cards done and mailed,
and was also able to make a bunch of
Birthday Cards for the New Year.

Here are some of the cards I was able to make.

Come on, how can you not like this Freddie Mercury image?

I made this one a bit simple in case it is needed for any occasion later on.  She was fun to color.

The splatter background on this was made
with my old smooch sprays.
I totally forgot about them and was
pleasantly surprised when I found them again!

I just love this adorable elephant.
He always looks so happy.

So many candles, so little time!
Had to do them in a rainbow.

So here is to the New Year and
wishing you nothing but the best.
I hope that the New Year brings
health, joy and happiness and
all of your dreams come true.

Let's Start Over

Wow...I can't believe how long it's been!!!

I have been creating, and even hauling...
but not sharing on here.
I apologize.

Nothing I can do about it now except to start over...again!

So, since the last time I have been here,
nothing much has really changed in my life.
Still working about 55-60 hours a week at a job I love...
Still living the BEST life I could ever dream about at home
with the love of my life and my two fur babies.
Still crafting, and watching sports.
We had a wedding and a birth this year in the family...
and everyone is doing well.
I am so blessed for that.

I am still loving my Happy Planner and am still tweaking it each month
to be more accessible for me and it has been so much fun.
I am still stamping and creating cards, which will always be a love of mine.
I have gotten into Loaded Envelopes, planner clips,
and other crafts that have been trending.

But the biggest thing I have gotten into in the past six months...
Adult Coloring!
I know, when it first came out, I thought...nah, not for me.
Why would I want to color in books?

Well...here's my answer in a nutshell.
When I make cards, they are for someone else.
When I color in the books, they are for me.
And although I truly LOVE making cards and such for others,
The books are just for me and for me to be able to
practice and hopefully get better.

So I have accumulated a bunch of books,
and I have to say that I am loving the illustrator Marty Noble right now.

Here are some of her drawings that I have colored.

'Angel' out of the Winter Scenes Book

'Fairy with Butterfly' out of the Fairies Book

'Mermaid' out of the Mermaids book

'Green-eyed Girl' out of the Steampunk book.

It was great catching up and hope to do more soon.
I have started on my Halloween cards,
and am trying to get my Christmas cards set up soon.
I will be sure to share them with you as well.

Happy Creating!!!
